Class ParentS

Class parents are an integral part in helping our schools function more effectively by ensuring that every family is aware of all goings-on at Deane Porter and Forrestdale, from important academic information and upcoming school events to class parties and PTO meeting recaps.

The role of the class parent is to support and build community within the classroom, as well as to serve as a communication liaison between the classroom families, the classroom teacher, the PTO. Serving as a class parent is an excellent opportunity to connect to your child’s class and to be involved in both the classroom and student/family community.

We thank you for volunteering your time and resources!

Typical Responsibilities of the Class Parent Include:

  1. Maintaining the internal class directory

  2. Communicating directly with your student’s teacher

  3. Handling class dues

  4. Creating and assembling donations for your class in connection with the PTO’s annual fundraiser

  5. Attending PTO meetings

  6. Coordinating and attending classroom events and parties

  7. Attending class trips

At the beginning of each school year, an email will be sent out for PTO members to express their interest in being a class parent.
